Behind every successful organization is a formidable team. Our executives bring a wealth of experience from their personal and professional lives to keep the association moving forward and staying relevant in a technologically-driven society.

Emeka Ozoh

President

Emeka Ozoh is a commercial and multi-family property management expert at Colliers International, where he manages assets for large Canadian investment groups. He also serves as a director on the board of the YMCA of Saskatoon.

Previously, Emeka held leadership roles in hospitality, finance, international trade, and manufacturing in Nigeria, bringing a diverse industry perspective and a strategic approach to his leadership.

He is married with four children and enjoys ping pong, tennis, reading, and volunteering in his free time.

Chizy Nwanegbo

Vice President

Chizy Nwanegbo is a seasoned Human Resources Specialist with over 10 years of experience in benefits administration and employee relations. Holding a Master's degree in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations, Chizy brings expertise and passion to her work.

Beyond HR, Chizy is a certified travel enthusiast, running Fairy Flight Travels and Tours, and a dedicated education consultant, guiding Nigerian students through her study consulting services. Chizy hails from Umuleri, Anambra State. Chizy is a proud wife to Kalu Johnson and mother of three. In her free time, she enjoys watching Korean dramas, exploring new destinations, and volunteering.

Francis Obiora Okonkwo

Secretary

Obiora Okonkwo is "Onye Igbo" from Awkuzu in Oyi LGA of Anambra State, Nigeria. He is a seasoned academic and research scientist with interests in environmental toxicology, food safety, and regulatory affairs. He has spent many years working with government agencies in a consulting role and has mentored several people in the field.

He moved to Canada in early 2022 and is honoured to be a member of SICA, where he is delighted to serve as Secretary. Obiora is married to Aijay and is blessed with two (2) kids.

Chinwendu Akujuobi

Director of Finance

Chinwendu Akujuobi is the Financial Director of the Saskatoon Igbo Cultural Association, bringing extensive expertise in finance, accounting, and risk management. A Fellow of the Chartered Certified Accountants of London (FCCA) and a licensed financial advisor, she has over a decade of experience in financial services. She is also a cybersecurity analyst with a strong background in IT security and compliance. As the founder of CDOZ Enterprise, Chinwendu is dedicated to financial integrity and community development.

Originally from Imo State, Nigeria, she is passionate about promoting Igbo culture and fostering financial sustainability within the association. Married with three children, Chinwendu enjoys cooking, traveling, and reading in her spare time.

Amarachi Alie-Kalu

Treasurer

Amarachi Alie-Kalu is a seasoned professional with 12 years of experience in banking and finance. As a business consultant and the driving force behind Alie Consulting Services Limited, she has dedicated over five years to helping startups navigate business analysis and strategic planning, empowering entrepreneurs to build sustainable enterprises.

Beyond her professional achievements, Amarachi is a devoted mother of four amazing children and a minister of the Gospel. She is passionately called to the ministry of the next generation, committed to shaping young minds and inspiring future leaders with faith, wisdom, and purpose.

Chigozie Kennedy Chukwuanu

Director of Welfare and Humanitarian Affairs

Chigozie Kennedy Chukwuanu is a planning and support specialist with the Government of Saskatchewan. He hails from Umudim, Nnewi in Anambra State, Nigeria.

Chigozie is married to Ginika Chukwuanu, who is from Otolo, Nnewi, also in Anambra State. Together, they are blessed with a beautiful baby girl, Adanna Chukwuanu.

In his leisure time, Chigozie enjoys working out at the gym.

Bright Onwa

DIRECTOR OF SOCIALS

Mr. Bright Onwa, also known musically as Mr. Sugarman, hails from Umuahia, Ubakala South LGA of Abia State, Nigeria. He studied Business Administration and Management at Abia State Polytechnic, Aba, and completed his National Youth Service Corps in Kwara State, Nigeria.

He has been in the entertainment industry since 2003—first as a recording artist, and later as a music producer and event promoter. Over the years, he has recorded and released numerous musical works and has been featured on many others. His music album, Mr. Sugarman – “The Bright One,” was released in 2017 and is available on all major digital music platforms.

Mr. Bright has worked with many notable musicians, producers, show promoters, and industry heavyweights. He moved to Saskatoon, Canada in 2022. Just a few months later, he was featured in the All Afrobeats Canadian Artiste Festival in Edmonton. That same year, he was booked to perform at the Saskatchewan Health Authority's end-of-year party. Shortly after, he hosted his first music show in Saskatoon starring Tony One Week (Gyration Master).

In 2024, he hosted Kenny Blaq, Akpororo, and Ajele, and later that year brought Afrobeat sensation SPYRO to the prestigious Remai Modern Event Centre. Following that, he hosted Africa’s biggest comedian, Basketmouth, featuring I Go Save and Forever Comedian.

Mr. Sugarman has consistently performed at nearly all SICA and Nigerian events in Saskatoon, proudly showcasing his talent and promoting Nigerian music and culture.

Nkiruka Ugo- Okeke

Assistant Director of Socials

Nkiru Ugo-Okeke is a Medical Laboratory Technologist with the Saskatchewan Health Authority. She hails from Nkwelle-Ezunaka in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State and is happily married to Joseph Okeke from Awgbu in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra. They are blessed with four children and three grandchildren.

Nkiru’s hobbies include reading, writing, listening to music, and travelling.

Stanley Chukwukelu

Director of Public Relations

Over 15 years of work experience in Quality Assurance Management across various manufacturers.

Sandra Onyemaizu

Women's Leader

Sandra Onyemaizu is a seasoned and dynamic professional with over 15 years of experience. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry, a Master of Science in Public Health, and an MBA in Human Resources Management. With a unique blend of approachability and decisiveness, she has built a successful career as a Talent Acquisition Expert, specializing in identifying, attracting, and retaining top talent.

Beyond her professional achievements, Sandra is happily married to Nnaemeka Onyemaizu. Together, they are proud parents to three wonderful children. They are from Uga, Aguata Local Government Area, Anambra State.

Outside of work, Sandra enjoys spending quality time with her family, cooking, karaoke, dancing, bowling, photography, and traveling. She values meaningful connections with like-minded women and embraces a well-rounded, fulfilling lifestyle.

Mazi Kalu Johnson

Men's Leader

A devoted father and husband, Mazi Kalu Johnson hails from Abiriba in Ohafia Local Government, Abia State. He cherishes family life with his wife, Chizy Nwanegbo, and their three children.

With over 20 years of experience in banking, IT, e-commerce, and marketing, he has built a thriving career while staying committed to his loved ones.

Passionate about giving back, he serves as a member of the Leadership Team at Inner City Missions and Lagos Food Bank, and as a Gender Curriculum Advisor.

He holds an MBA from the University of Calabar and a Mini MBA from Tekedia Institute.

At home, he enjoys cooking, playing video games with his kids, chess, and reading.
